About Emily

Emily Breunig is a writer, teacher, editor, runner, cat-wrangler, and voracious reader. She was born in Houston, Texas, and promptly left the place for Connecticut. That pattern of frequent movement pretty much sums up her life, up to and including the present. She attended high school in Orange County, California, graduated from Yale University in 2003 with a BA in English and a writing concentration, and took an MFA in Creative Writing from Saint Mary's College of Moraga in 2007.

In between and around all of that, she has also lived in the East Bay Area, California's Central Valley, Calgary, Houston (for a bit longer this time), San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Ningbo, China, and Stockholm. She currently lives with her husband, her daughter, one dog, one cat, and many books in the East Bay Area. She has taught English and writing to Chinese elementary school students, San Jose college students, San Francisco middle schoolers, and pretty much anyone else who wanted to listen for a little while.

Her first novel, "A Ghost at the Edge of the Sea," is represented by Levine Greenberg Rostan Literary Agency.
